Might be unpopular so early in the season but it`s something in my mind that needs to be debated.

Nice bloke, ex-player, but wouldn`t call him a legend.

At the moment his hands are tied to a certain extent without an out and out striker, but having said that the guy appears to be tactically clueless.
We bring in Liam Fraser a holding midfield player and put him in an attacking role, we have Wing who is renowned for scoring goals from 25 yards and put him in front of the back four. then when he gets forward near the end he pings in a cracker.

Their 2nd goal you wouldn`t see anywhere else in the entire league, a guy in yards of space on the edge of the box without anyone closing him down.

Ben Elliott one of our better players last week didn`t get a look in, Fraser was preferred. Bolton and Wycombe this week and it`s possible, even probable we`ll have no points from 5 games.

How long do you give him?

Tactically inept, confusing line-ups, learnt fack all since last season, and showing no signs of changing. For a former striker I find it bizarre that he sets him teams out to be negative. I'd also give him 2 more games before we pull the plug! Otherwise we're wasting another season in this dump of a league, and settling for mid-table at best or fighting in another relegation battle.

Yeah, not feeling Hunt as manager, think he skated by with the siege mentality of last season and is getting exposed right now.

I want him to succeed, but I also know it's a ruthless game. I'd expect we'd currently be an appealing option for an ambitious manager, much less so if we're still bottom in November. After 2 tough away games, we have Vale and Northampton at home. If we don't win those 2 and get up to 7 winless, it will be untenable.

When you look at the players who have left. The replacements are free transfers and loans. He has had no money to spend. It was obvious before the season started this is one of the weakest squads l can ever remember and I’m in my 50s.

Ridiculous overreaction from those talking about sacking Hunty.

1/ The takeover went through later than expected which affected retaining players and signing new ones.

2/ pre-season was affected by the above and players haven not had the chance to gel yet.

3/ we have already had a number of unfortunate injuries to key players

4/ There is no senior striker and the squad is definitely weaker than last season overall.

5/ a tough run of games to start.

The next few games look tough but I am sure Hunt will turn it round if given the chance. Will be very disappointed with the new owners if they sack him so early in the season.

Also when Hunt took over his record in his first 3 games was 1-1 0-2 and 0-3. There was a clamour to get rid of him then too and he went on to win the next 3. Give the bloke a chance.

There are parallels with Tommy’s squad. One where he turned to his countrymen in an attempt to maintain loyalty and respect. He was also trying to play one style of football at the wrong level. It took years to recover with the pragmatism and flexibility of Pards, allied to the trust and backing of the Charman. No quick fixes, just long term plans.

He had the luxury of knowing the players when he took over as manager but many of those players have gone and he's never built a first team squad from scratch before. He's never been one who I have thought highly of his substitutions whereas Selles was effective here. Hunt needs to improve here quickly, he has the depth of players now to bring someone on to change a game whereas last season he didn't. He also needs to quickly find his best 11, I don't think he knows what that is.

It does look a bit like we're not too far away from being a good side though, bring in a replacement striker and a few more games together (we should be getting 3 points off teams like Wimbledon but Port Vale and Northampton are equally winnable). I feel like once we get a win under our belts the team will settle down. If we lose the next 4 league games then Hunt should definitely be under a lot of pressure though. We have a side that's on paper good enough to be challenging for the top 6. We definitely need to avoid anymore injuries though.

I agree with you about the quality of the squad, but interesting a lot of people are disagreeing with this. I remember the same 2 years ago under Selles' start, and my belief that it was good enough then was ultimately vindicated.

We've been unlucky with O'Connor's injury, and I think Lane will make us more dangerous. But we're ultimately only 1 CF away from having a really strong L1 squad, so if Hunt contract to struggle that's not an excuse.

It’ll be interesting to see how Hunt responds to this game. In a difficult situation now as doesn’t want to keep changing things up but he needs to correct what look to be pretty obvious selection issues

Would assume Doyle and Abrefa will come back. Both looked good yesterday and should have started. Williams in for Stickland.
