The next 12 games

Right to be clear I am completely on the fence with Hunt. There is 2 side to the coin.
we have played most of the top of the league in the first quarter of the season with momentum difficult to start and we have a better chance in the next quarter.
Other side the performances have not been great, it is very up and down and tactics are not clear or are not clicking with the players.
Couhig also sounds like he is losing patience.
So to be fair to Hunt with the next 12 games being-
Doncaster
Stevenage
Wigan
Rotherham
Blackpool
Peterborough
Bradford
Luton
Plymouth
Peterborough (again)
Burton
Stockport

What would you consider an acceptable amount of points from these games for Hunt to survive and lead us into the second half of the season? I am saying 22-24.

21 from these games 12 games

Based on following reasonable targets for Noel - allowing for new team gelling, measured and steady improvements, progress etc
1st 10 games - 10 points (achieved)
2nd 10 games - 15 points (4 from 3, to go needs 11 from next 7)
3rd 10 games - 20 points (10 from first 5 of these..)
4th 10 games - 25 points
Last 6 games - ?? Form team Play Off push drama....

Looking at Doncaster next up, they got 16 points from their first 7 but have only got 1 point in their past 6 Surely winnable.

I'd hope for 18 points from our next 12 - firmly in mid table and playoffs not impossible if we have a McDermott style run.

Despite being poor for the 1st quarter of the season, we are only 4 point off of 8th, so if we can get a decent little run of results going we could easily find ourselves in the mix at the top end by Christmas.

Anything over 18 points will probably be acceptable but the key is stringing together some wins - we have only lost 2 of the last 11, so the key to where we go will now depend on if we can turn draws into wins more regularly. If we'd held on for wins at Wycombe & Exeter we'd be 11th - if we'd lost at Stockport and home to Mansfield, we'd be 22nd - that's the fine margins.

I think the next 6 are key and will determine Hunt's future.

Having listened to his interview on Berks, Couhig's support seems less solid than it was and if we bumble along at a point a game or thereabouts during this run of more winnable games, I'd expect a change soon.

We lost the first three games to decent sides (currently 5th, 6th, 8th)

Our form for the ten league games since then places us 8th and we are still improving as a team.

We were great at Wycombe and should have got 3 points, ditto Cardiff

Paudie O’Connor is the second-best player in the league over recent games and is still gaining match fitness.

The pairing with Williams is comfortably a top six CB pairing and Yiadom still has Championship class

If those three can play 80-90% of the rest of our games (big if) I would expect RFC to be averaging top six form for the rest of the season

Whether that will be enough to sneak 6th might depend on hurting other “top six” teams

Beat Donnie and the mood will really start to lift.

A draw with Stevenage would then be OK, but win BOTH and RFC’s odds for making the top six will plummet, the belief will be sky-high and promotion via the play-offs would be a reasonable bet

Yeah, the difference between winning and losing is often quite narrow.

A couple of good results in a row, confidence could soar, everyone relaxes as the pressure lifts and suddenly everything looks different.

There's a few reasons I've never been particularly worried, and they include:

The games (draws and defeats) have turned on fine margins and individual errors mainly. Despite what people have complained, the only game we really got battered in was Bolton, and we still got a 1-1 draw in that. We've yet to lose by more than 2 goals, and even at 2 goals it's only twice iirc, both in the first 2 games.

We know many of our players really are good quality at this level.

We know Hunt has previously had us successful at this level. Including after an iffy start to his reign.

We know there really is a lot of medicocrity in L1.

We are scoring goals.

We hadn't fielded our preferred CB pairing at all until yesterday.
