i can remember going to the stockport and ipswich games ipswich had just bought johnson and he tore us apart! i also remember my last game at elm park us v man city 3-0 great game

! plus i can remember all the wba, wolves brum, and stoke fans taking the piss cause my team went down!

At least we had the cups to cheer us up that season. Especially Parky's 30 yarder against Wolves.

Was that the Sunderland game when it absolutely pissed with rain? I was on the Tilehurst end and wettest I have ever been at a match. Literally can't remember anything else about the game, minor details like who won, just the soaking.

No, the 4-0 game was played in sunshine. September/October time IIRC.

Asaba was unplayable that day. A shame he never lived upto that potential, a real waste of talent.

That was great!....Then we went to Sunderland on a Tuesday evening and got what was, at that time, a record crowd in the Stadium of Light of IIRC 44,000+ and lost 4-1. I remember our chants of "5-4 on aggregate".

Sunderland at that time were rather as we became, in that they had a new stadium but the team was disappointing.

Some things don't change, though. Instead of a long trip for an evening game to Sunderland, we have one to Newcastle this year!
