Mate has suffered knee ligament damage in the reserves game.

Not clear how serious it is but if he is out for any length of time I guess the loan will be terminated and he will be on his way home.

Sad but he appeared to be some way off making an impact on the first team.

Please don't let us get any injuries to our first choice 16 before January because our already thin squad is now even thinner.

one appearance for the 1st team and 1 goal. not bad for someone who's about 21, a long way from all that he's ever really known and who has a whole new lingo to get to grips with as well as new faces around him.

personally I hope its a lot less serious than it could be and that he's back up and playing in a month or two....

There are some outstanding medical facilites in the rest of Europe, including the old Communist bloc.

As it's a year long loan, I don't believe there is a return clause. It is to all intents and purposes a full transfer for a period of one season.

agreed, we have great facilities here but they also do in other countries...added to that some of the best doctors are not just from the uk, but also india, america and east europe

But then, in Eastern Europe it isn't necessary to pay top whack for good treatment. My friend is Serbian, but now living and working in the UK. She had a serious medical condition last year that, if not treated, might have left her sterile. The NHS refused to treat her, and advised her to get pregnant as a means to *possibly* solving the problem (despite the fact that she had split up with her partner of 16 years, and only recently met a new boyfriend).

She was able to arrange an operation in Serbia within a month, and the entire procedure (inc. post-op care) cost £600. Can you imagine private care here being so cheap?
