Reading reserves vs Peterborough 1st team

My Mate is a peterborough fan who are lieing 6th in league 2. He thinks that they could beat are reserve team.

I don't think they can.

Our reserve team could give most championship sides a run for their money.. most of those who play in our reserve side have already proven themselves more than capable in the championship last season, and some already have done in the premiership. The only unknowns are the younger players like Henry.

However....On their day anyone can beat anyone. So Yes he is right.

They are I'm sure capable of beating our reserves, as they are capable of beating our first team.

I'd suspect however the first team would beat them at least 9 out of 10 times and the reserves would beat them something like 7 out of 10 times.

However....On their day anyone can beat anyone. So Yes he is right.

Well if you had a competition between a petebrough fan and a say chelsea / man u fan i know who i would presume would have better knowledge of the game.
Do you not find if you meet someone who supports say norwich / walsall / stockport etc they seem to be more clued up than your average premiership "fan"

I do think the game would be fairly close, mainly on the strength of Reading Vs Darlington. If we played at home i think we would win, away maybe not.

Hi Knights; welcome to the board.

I'm curious - why is he negative about Reading? Is it just the usual thing where you have a go at the club your mate supports, or does he have some reason why he thinks that Reading, who the reasonable fans of most clubs in the rest of the League pyramid actually look upon as a role model, are worth being negative about?

If you look at what we have done; built brick by brick over 16 years, with steady and effective (but not suicidal) investment, developed the infrastructures to cope with ever growing success on the pitch before huge investment in players, and a club that is as unassuming and modest as can be in the circumstances we are now in - frankly I'm proud of our club, of where we are, and of how we came to be here.

It IS a role model for any club, and some are trying to follow it (watch out for Swansea in a few years for example); maybe he thinks having Barry Fry at the helm of the club he supports is worthy of pride?
