With his attitiude, I can't see him going anywhere just yet. He seems a thoroughly decent person, has had a couple of knocks personally in his time, and it would seem he thinks quite a bit before making major "life" decisions.

Dare I say it, but he reminds me of Sir Steve!

That's a great article and also that would seemingly explain the amount of times we see Kev himself putting his hands together and looking to the sky.

I don't ever remember reading about his brother dying before.

Two superb articles,just wish there were another 200 or so like him in the Premiership instead of the divers, cheats,prima donnas that hold sway most of the time. He really seems a super guy,hope all goes really well for him for the next 10 years or so at least, as a Reading player and International. Hope that the refs protect him from the Riggotts, Savages etc of the Premiership. He is obviously going to be a marked man in more ways than one,and will be on the receiving end of a lot of stick. Looks as if someone up there likes him, so hope he will continue to protect him,certainly have more faith in Him up there than the likes of Styles, Poll, Riley etc.

I had heard the story about his brother,very sad to die at 21. Testicular cancer is I think the second most prevalent form of cancer in men, good idea to check your balls every so often for lumps , increase in size. A Millwall player suffered from it about 6 years ago, he got over it but has never been the same player.Bob Champion overcame it and went on to win the Grand National on Aldiniti.

I just hope Kevin stays with us for years,under Sir Steve he will keep his feet on the ground except when heading goals. I think as well as being the cleanest team ,less cards I mean not clean kit, SC has instilled a standard of ethics into the players, which blows fresh air into what has become a very cynical league.

So far all is going well, perhaps we can disprove the saying nice guys finish last.

its fantastic to see Reading fc's profile continue to grow across the seas. proves that the good guys can come first at times and that all footballers arent arragoant and self-centered!!!

Cheers for the links, I had read the Times article at work on Saturday morning, but I thought the Guardian article was equally good-reading.

As others have said, its sad to hear about his brothers death, which made me think, was it Bernard he was praying to after he beat Van Der Sar with that penalty against Man. United? Rest in peace.

IIRC he said at the time that it was.

He is doing the club, the fans, his country and his family proud. Honest players in the Premiership are a rare breed, he is definitely one. It is sad to hear about his brother, I think that loss has shaped the way he thinks now, never to take anything for granted. Long may you be with us kev, you are an example to us all.
