FSF Campaign for Fair Pricing

Today the FSF launches its campaign for fair pricing for Premier League prices - especially in view of the new TV money being received from next season.

This campaign has three initial aims :

Universal away ticket price of no more than Â£15 for all Premier League (FAPL) games with Â£10 for concessions

A three-season freeze of prices at 2006/7 season levels for both season tickets and individual match tickets for seasons 2007/8-2009/10 imposed by FAPL rule. Encouragement of clubs to cut ticket prices in cash terms over and above the freeze, particularly at the low end.

The facility fee received for all FAPL televised matches to be used to subsidise tickets prices for all attending those matches.

The signing process of this requires you to verify your e-mail address, so we can be sure that that this petition has the credibility of having real people behind it.

As mentioned on the other thread I would object to Reading FC charging away fans less to watch the same game as me. It may also lead to away clubs only providing the bare minumum allocation.

Lower ticket prices for all if you please, Home supporters are STAR members as well you know.

Perhaps the club chairmen who long for a salary cap should also suggest a ticket price cap to go with it?

Even though they've also spent time and money getting to the game, and also when all Reading fans (which may or may not include you) get to pay less than home fans when watching the return fixture?

They do anyway, unless they are unable to sell the seats themselves (i.e. it's only Blackburn, Wigan etc who allow greater than the minimum).

Absolutely - the away pricing is just one of the three factors mentioned, and is presented first as it's easy to quantify and for the press etc to understand. But the whole campaign is about cheaper ticket prices for all, but that's a pretty wishy-washy slogan.

Currently 5823 signatures to this signature.

Lots of media attention with it, too, and already Chelsea, Bolton and Manchester City have announced price freezes or decreases for next season.

No guarantees that it's going to work, but it's certainly showing Richard Scudamore and the Premier League Chairmen the strength of feeling on this.

Not sure if it's been said elsewhere, but have you seen the protests Man United fans are set to do at Fulham tonmorrow in retaliation of the Â£45 price hike? They're urged not to buy anything in the ground, etc, those that go. It seems many clubs are doing all sorts of protests...

The football club know there are thousands wanting to get in and watch games!
If we were struggling to fill the ground then yes, but we're not, and thereofre the football club will no doubt keep us exempt from any price reductions in the near future.
We can only hope that the club will freeze prices for next season, and hopefully the season after.
After all, we don;t want a nice big shiny stadium and 12,000 empty seats every week when the locals can't afford to buy tickets anymore!

Of course it will.

There's no doubt that the new TV deal will help put a lid on ticket prices but the clubs' offering reductions are surprise, surprise!!! those with loads of empty seats to fill

Fans have a right to get the best deal they can but every club is different.

Ours not only has a full stadium for every home league game but has also produced results on the pitch that have been beyond our wildest dreams.

Whilst I would like to see a price freeze until the stadium has been expanded, I would be somewhat embarrassed if I paid less for my seat next season, especially given how much the expansion is going to cost.

There would be no shortage of takers for my perch in the Upper West, which was the first stand to sell out when half season tickets went on sale last season.

They can have my Â£600 for the next campaign here and now.
