Away "fans" in the home end

As I'm cynical of any action the Club might take, is there a complaints process we can go through to report ST holders who have given their tickets to away fans?

There were several instances at home to Liverpool today and it's not what we want to see.

Any advice gratefully received.

Yep - let the club know, via customerservices@readingfc.co.uk.

You'll need to be able to tell them the exact seat details, of course, but I know for a fact that they have acted on this sort of thing when it's been reported to them in the past.

Just make sure that the people you report were causing trouble or doing something a bit worse than 'looking a bit Scouse'.

It would be rather pathetic if we start reporting people who came to watch a game of football and behaved perfectly sensibly just becasue they let it slip that they 'cheer for the other side'.

We all do it, I've done it and will again if needs dictate.

There weren't any nearby. There were five minutes to go and I didn't want to miss the equaliser. I would have disturbed the ten people in my row I would have forced to move and those behind me.

I have no issues with away fans in the home ends (I'm sure lots of us have done it from time to time) as long as they're not being provocative and looking for trouble after all its only a game.

My issue with it is more along the lines that they - or the person who decided to let them have their ticket - are denying proper Reading fans the opportunity of supporting their club.

Almost certainly there are still some season tickets that were bought by people who have no intention of watching Reading matches, but for resale at inflated prices for the big games.

These are the ones the club would love to root out - but they have no way of knowing unless other STHs tell them. One-off or occasional "re-distribution" of tickets to mates when you can't come yourself is something quite different and I'm sure the club knows it goes on and is happy to turn a blind eye as long as it is one-off or occasional and no-one makes any money out of it or does it as a business arrangement.

There have been 2 occasions this season where I didn't take my seat (1 I had been giving hospitality seats and the other I was still flying home from South Africa) and both times I gave my ticket to a friend of mine without charge. He is a Liverpool fan and had I not been able to make the Liverpool game then he would NOT have been given my seat, I would have found someone else. While I could trust him to behave and not celebrate I know how frustrating it would have been and if anyone had found out then sitting there myself would have become difficult.

It's worth noting that there are some Reading season ticket holders who grew up supporting Liverpool as kids, some even come from Liverpool.

I have 6 STs and on many occasions one or more holders may be : ill, working, doing another activity.

If there were a buybackk system [as promised this season] there would be no issue. As it is I sometimes give tickets away to folk I know who cannot afford to go. Other times I flog them for a knockdown price [£40 for an adult and an under 16 and under 12 fore the Fulham game].

I always sell to RFC fans [although on one occasion the fan I gave a ticket to then passed it on to an away fan ] - this will never happen again!!!

I am sure some will express disgust at this. However, keeping my tickets is the only way to guarantee we can all sit together....

I don't remember this sort of pressure for tickets to watch walsall or rotherham at home, or for trips to Boston or Sunderland I am afraid as one of those who was an ST 'when we were shit' I am not apologetic for taking a seat from an allegedly 'genuine fan'. If they were that die hard they could have had a ST in the past... I apologise if you are one of those priced out this season.

Yep I was sat with the Saddlers at Becott. Mostly silent, apart from a bit of positive cheering every time Martin Butler ran past, which kind of rattled the exile known as Row V.

But fans in opposing ends is fine. It's just all the chanting and stuff the winds up the majority of fans in the said end that's an issue.

My Man Utd supporting brother in law was at the Man Utd cup game, and he was silent, as good as gold.

If fans in the wrong end though are not silent, the sewards around should do their job and lead them out of the stadium though.
