16 Dec 2008 12:52Decent goal at the weekend, and certainly one that Kevin Doyle would have been proud of.Ideal wrote:The words "barn" and "door" come to mind.

17 Dec 2008 13:35That's an uncharacteristically daft thing to say Dirk!Dirk Gently wrote:I can't think of any circumstance where it'd be a good idea to purchase a player who another team in the same division are trying to unload because he's too expensive to pay and isn't delivering the goods!

17 Dec 2008 18:14Thanks for the back-handed compliment .... but the point I was making is what I highlighted in the quote - the others are perfectly valid reasons to snap someone up. But if someone is expensive and failing then surely that's a complete no-no.Hoop Blah wrote:That's an uncharacteristically daft thing to say Dirk!Dirk Gently wrote:I can't think of any circumstance where it'd be a good idea to purchase a player who another team in the same division are trying to unload because he's too expensive to pay and isn't delivering the goods!
A lot of transfers are players who've fallen out with a manager, can't get in the side because of X being better than them (doesn't mean the player isn't better than our play in his position though), have fallen out with team mates, had enough of the area and can't settle, need a new challenge etc etc etc.
It all depends on what the player can do for us, how our manager would want to use him differently, and how much we're willing to pay them of course.
I'd still say no thanks to Kuki though.
