Just out of interest, what would you say is ambitious? We've played top flight football for the first time in our history under John Madejski's chairmanship. Should we be up there challenging for a top four spot or what?premiership_bound wrote:End of thread.Holding Out Hope wrote:if it was an ambitious club,
Not necessarily but we might have still been up there with more of an ‘ambitious’ transfer policy but that’s an old argument.Deathy wrote:Just out of interest, what would you say is ambitious? I think the selling of Doyle, Kitson, shorey, Hunt, Sonko and the proposed moves for Bikey and Harper - all of which are proven Priemership players and replacing them with, errr, a defender from Doncaster shows exactly how ambitious we are.Deathy wrote:Just out of interest, what would you say is ambitious? Yes, we'll be the best run club in League 2 at this rate!Deathy wrote:Or does it tell you just how sensible we are? Think about it. Former relegated clubs have ended up in administration because they did not balance their books. We have! We're in good shape; no, we're in great shape!
Have you moved on from moaning about Madejski not being willing to spend money now then Jay?Deathy wrote:Or does it tell you just how sensible we are? Think about it. We spent two million on one player, and instead of spinning it any way he could, Jay accepted that he'd been wrong on that subject. Refreshing among Hobnobbers.Hoop Blah wrote:Have you moved on from moaning about Madejski not being willing to spend money now then Jay?Deathy wrote:Or does it tell you just how sensible we are? Surely more of a 540 in Jay's case. There will, no doubt, be a couple more 180's before September is out.Hoop Blah wrote:There's admitting you're wrong and then there's a 360 degree turn around to start celebrating the clubs frugal policy.
He has spent money though. £2m on one player was surprising, so all credit to him for putting out. And likely more to follow. And at the same time he's balancing our books so we don't get into serious trouble. I'm pretty happy with that, yes. Had we continued to sell and not supported the manager in the transfer market, of course I'd be pissed.Hoop Blah wrote:Have you moved on from moaning about Madejski not being willing to spend money now then Jay?Deathy wrote:Or does it tell you just how sensible we are? And he's slower than Boris.
I'd agree that we need some creativity in midfield, but this guy wouldnt be the answer this move would smack of Ray Houghton and look where that got us.West Stand Man wrote:Row Z Royal wrote:Central midfield is one area we don't need to strengthen.

We have just seen 2 league games where our central midfield has failed to create any real chances for the striker(s) yet you don't see a need to strengthen?
