Just seen on SSnews an inteview with him from what looks like goals on sunday, and he quite clearly states he'd be more than happy to drop down to championship if it was an ambitious club, surely someone like him with his experiance and available on a free is worth a look?

Just out of interest, what would you say is ambitious? We've played top flight football for the first time in our history under John Madejski's chairmanship. Should we be up there challenging for a top four spot or what?

Not necessarily but we might have still been up there with more of an ‘ambitious’ transfer policy but that’s an old argument.

There are levels of ambition. Whether we played top level football for the first time is irrelevant as we are talking about now not then.

If you were a player looking from the outside would you see the current ‘Reading’ as ambitious? I’m not too sure. I’m not saying I disagree with the current policy only that looking from outside I do not think you would say it was an ambitious club.

I think the selling of Doyle, Kitson, shorey, Hunt, Sonko and the proposed moves for Bikey and Harper - all of which are proven Priemership players and replacing them with, errr, a defender from Doncaster shows exactly how ambitious we are.

Reading at the moment are a bit like the mentals who apply to X-factor. They're all ambitious and want to win too - they neither have the talent nor the ability to follow their dream.

He has spent money though. £2m on one player was surprising, so all credit to him for putting out. And likely more to follow. And at the same time he's balancing our books so we don't get into serious trouble. I'm pretty happy with that, yes. Had we continued to sell and not supported the manager in the transfer market, of course I'd be pissed.

I'd agree that we need some creativity in midfield, but this guy wouldnt be the answer this move would smack of Ray Houghton and look where that got us.

I know he's spent money, I've been fine with Madejski's backing of his managers all along really.

Sorry though Jay, I know I shouldn't, but I was just laughing at how quickly your totally unfounded anti-Madejski's finacial support stance fell to pieces and how your now having a pop at people for basically having the same view you did just a few days ago. God knows how many times you made the point about Madejski not being willing to spend any money on here over the last 6-12 months!
