just put me on the iggy list if you don't want to see my posts. or just don't open my threads, it's pretty simple. its not like I'm spamming all the threads across the board. All my posts are confined to here, The rumours and gossip page ,where they should be. You either believe i have credibility or you don't. makes no difference to me. I'd say the number of ones I've got right, like the obscure bloke from Germany in particular proves my credibility, you don't just get lucky with ones like that. but whatever. Tbf to Brogue or whoever he is (not sure about Gary from Woodley) he gets a lot right. Also, it’s clear that whilst we might agree terms with players some will hold out for better offers. Personally, I like all the updates and speculation as it adds some fun to proceedings.

Told a couple of things yesterday

1.’ Interesting news regarding Ferguson, been with us for 2 weeks, his fitness is a concern. Set to play the next 2 u21 games and if he gets through unscathed and fine he will sign. All agreed already.’

That’s Norwich (a) this weekend and Leicester (h) next weekend

2.’ Ritchie been holding out for champ club/more money but general feeling is that he’s decided to join us but not confirmed. Bowler interest will drop if we get him, he wants a lot of money’

That’s Bowler who wants the lot of money I presume?

3.’ Told Wing should be fine for Saturday’

4. Now this one is interesting… ‘ We’re allowed to sign one more foreign player, As we met the criteria for home grown players last year so we get 1 extra spot’

That goes against what Brian and JJ said at the fan event at the purple turtle where they said we have used our two wildcards already. So either they were being loose with the truth, or they have dug a little deeper into what we can do and subsequently found out we can sign someone else. Either way that could open up a much wider base of players we can shop for.

5. Scarr not signing, he wants to stay up north

6. Williams should be announced today.

Would Canada being part of the commonwealth be as good as a British passport anyway?

That's not the experience I recall from watching ice hockey over here - the Canadians were usually dual-UK/EU (pre-Brexit) nationals.

I presume it's not a British passport/citizenship that matters here. Residency for a certain period would entitle a player to apply for permanent leave to remain, without the need to apply for full citizenship. So Williams might have PLR (and therefore have the right to work without a visa) without holding a British passport.

The Commonwealth has no bearing on this at all which is a shame. You would of thought being British and part of the commonwealth would make residency and citizenship a lot easier however, this clearly isn't the case.
We have to jump through the same hoops as any other person applying.
I've been a Canadian resident for 18yrs now and will be applying for my citizenship pretty soon as you get grandfather rights once you hit 55.
