In brogue we trust
Just bin it off and carry on as we are, can't see the point in putting the club through the extra expense. Everyone in C1871 are standing anyway so what's the point?

Because it makes it legal and safe
Accept its not legal, in which case, why are they able to get away with standing now as it is, always puzzles me, most away games, safe standing or not, everyone stands so can't see why people are pushing for this, it's not as if fans are being forced to sit down.

I don’t think this thread is for you.

Fans stand currently. But they are not allowed to. Stewards pick their battles. But it still falls under the spectator conduct regulations and clubs who allow persistent standing can be subject to fines. Or have their safety licence taken away.

By applying for and getting authorization from the SGSA for safe standing - installing rail seating. Fans are allowed to stand all game, legally and safely.

Because standing in a seated area not designed for standing is inherently unsafe and we should be putting in facilities that appropriately meet the needs of our supporter's practices and desires?

Because we should accommodate different types of fan experiences and not just assume everyone wants what you want and tough if they don't?

Great news. And hopefully shuts up those consistently trying to enforce their views on how to support to C1871 and calling for it to end.

If the club is doing this, it's going nowhere.

Also, putting barriers ahead of seats reduces the chances of people falling over. If people are regularly standing in a section, it makes sense to have some sort of barrier simply on safety grounds.

Surprised it's only 'over a thousand' though, given half of the stand is about 2,300 seats currently. Would've thought they'd want to do everything above the wheelchair bays.

Assuming the club are going to do the most basic (at least to begin with): put a railing in front of the existing seats (like we've had at Birmingham and Derby in recent seasons). As opposed to the proper rail seats we had at Luton.

So because I'm not in full agreement, this thread isn't for me.
So much for everyone being entitled to their views on here.
I'll step aside and let you all waste your time debating this!

I wonder if its just the lower section for the rake, or maybe just one block as an experiment to keep costs low.

It's more not for you, because you obviously don't know much about it and aren’t interested in engaging with it or being educated on it. And because you're completely dismissive of thousands of fellow fans preference and safety.

If you aren’t comfortable having your opinion challenged, don't express it. Simple.

We're all entitled to have opinions, even if they're reallys stupid ones. None of us are entitled to not have those opinions questioned or challenged. Does your opinion somehow trump ours, we are afterall, just expressing our opinion on your opinion. People like you never seem to be able to get their heads round that though.

Really???

I massively caveated that I was wildly out-of-date on the technical details :
Dirk Gently wrote: 25 Mar 2026 12:58 Having said that, I did all my work on safe standing long before it became legal, so there may well have been developments and technological solutions since then that make the above problems irrelevant these days.
so I'm utterly unconcerned that my recollections from well over a decade ago are contradicted by a document issued less than four year ago.

That's some seriously weak attempted ebeef shite you have there...
I mean I was basically agreeing with you, but yes with a casual reference to your hiatus many years ago. Take it as beef or a light hearted jibe depending on your wont.

I never thought that I would get used to sitting at football but now, after 26 years of our stadium and many others, it has for me become an acceptable habit.

In the not-so-good old days at Elm Park we could usually stand in our regular place because the ground was seldom full.
Now I like the idea that it is my place/seat even if I get there only just before kick-off.

Safe standing?
Yes, ok for those that want it and by all means the club should pay out to accommodate the 1871 lot but there should be an extra levy on them for every time they slow the game down further with their nonsense about the ball not being in the D at corners-we probably lose up to 2-3 minutes per game because of it.

I used to not be able to imagine wanting to sit, but in my mid 40s, I now do feel standing for 90 minutes solid as leaving me a bit tired and achy, so give it another 10 years and I'd probably be a sitter.

Went to Wimbledon away and stood the whole game. Same at Exeter. I needed a sit down after. Definitely a young persons game to stand all game
