Cemented a first team position =/= good enough for next season where we hope to out perform this season. Continuous improvement and all that.
It's not hard Leon. I'm sure you'd grasp it if someone else had said it.
now it all makes sense. Cemented his place in the team means due for replacement during the summer. Yes of course Ian.
Let me spell it out for you in incredibly simple terms.
My (any of our) opinion on his value to the team in the future, has zero bearing on whether he is currently firm first choice LB.
He has started the vast majority of games. He clearly is a first choice left back who has currently, not ten years ago, not next season, not 5 years from now, currently cemented a first team place.
If you weren't so desperate to have a pop you would be able to work it out.
Let Collins Dictionary spell in incredibly simple terms
"The expression "cemented your place" means to firmly establish or secure a position or role. It implies that someone has made their influence or identity
stronger and more permanent, similar to how cement solidifies materials together. This phrase is often used in contexts where someone is taking steps to
solidify their authority or reputation within a team or organization."
or Cambridge Dictionary
"cement verb [T]
(MAKE STRONGER)
to make something such as an agreement or friendship stronger:
The university's exchange scheme has cemented its links with many other academic institutions"
You know it's OK to admit you're wrong once in a while?
