Is that an official Parkun? That would mean Reading (and the suburbs have 5 now):

Prospect Park
Reading Park run (going from TVP)
Woodley
Dinton Pastures
and now Green Park

The test run didn't start there though, the marker is in the wrong place, it started behind 100 Brook Drive. That marker point looks like it's at the 2km point.

I would rather not disclose my username to you but you'll know it's me as I'll be first over the line. Say hi if I hand you my token.

25 mins each way? No way!

Why would you walk from the town centre?

Well, I have. Back in the day, my brother and I used to cycle (tandem) from Didcot to Elm Park.

Does Bill Oddie still watch Reading? Where does he live?

Bill Oddie once stood in the centre circle at the Madejski with a microphone in his hand and declared that he's a Manchester United supporter. He did say that Reading were his second favourite team (primarily because of the song we occasionally sing about him and his beard)

OK, thanks for that. What other ties does he have to Reading?

Not used the station before, but coming in from Goring it's cheaper to get the train to Green Park than town, plus the cost of the bus! £9 return on the train for the boy and I, Over £20 for a train into town and bus.

Is it viable? I mean how busy are the trains?

The trains normally have 3 carriages and won't be too bad with a low away crowd expected. The walk over from the station to the ground is quite nice, particularly with the weather.

John Madejski's Wallet wrote: 17 May 2025 18:37 Yeah 15 i'd say.

Have to disagree. I just did it, and the station manager said 15. I reckon it is 15 at least just to the edge of the car park, then five more to the closest stadium entrance.

Biggest gripe, there are pedestrian signs throughout Green Park, but none indicate the way to SCL or the station. Crazy.
