I still don't get why they would prefer people to spread their monthly payments, rather than get all of the money into the club up front. I'm sure the accountants can then work out how to best manage that in financial/accounting/expenditure terms.
The only plus side that I can see is that the club are hoping people won't get around to cancelling their subscriptions so they will potentially get more ongoing income (or at least the three month notice period).
I think that latter point is what the club are trying to do: hope people forget to cancel.
They'll also be able to change the pricing of the subscription more easily too. A 'it's only gone up by £5 per month' sort of thing, you can afford that. With 5,000 subscribers (hypothetically), that would be an extra £300,000 in revenue per year for the club.
I just think linking season tickets to a subscription is very predatory. It will likely allow the club to get away with some underhand tactics to draw more money from people.
Just do what you normally do. Renew with an up front payment.
That's what I intend to do.
I was responding to a specific point as to why the club would want to push a subscription model, rather than receive all the upfront season ticket money.
Most people who'd want to go via a monthly payment route for season tickets are people who are unable to afford a one-off ~£400 payment, or it would make much better budgeting sense for them (especially if they take their kids along with them too).
Of course, you can't have any of the 'benefits' of the higher tiers without being in the subscription either.
