New shirt sponsors for next season 2026/27

by morganb » 29 May 2026 19:24

Appeared on Twitter earlier -

https://x.com/i/status/2060351405630591099
Having just checked, looks like Select Car Leasing's deal for sponsoring #ReadingFC’s kits is up this year.
With a follow up from CScott -
New sponsors already been agreed.
This is front of shirt only and not the stadium too

No idea who. Assuming a lucrative deal

Could be seen as a bit harsh on SCL

It is true, we will be changing shirt sponsors this summer. They will be paying more than SCL were. It’s a gambling company and they also sponsored a team in the EFL the season just finished.

As gambling firms are not allowed on children's shirts i guess they will have a different or no sponsor

Guess gambling firms are looking for new sponsorship deals now they are not allowed to sponsor Premier League sides

More stupidity! Why are more rules being made different between the divisions. What happens if club x signs a lucrative multi-year betting sponsorship deal in the Championship and then gets promoted? No doubt there’ll be a get out but maybe at considerable sponsorship loss of revenue.

There have been a lot of MrQ averts on the stadium boards this year - I hope it's not them.

It’s not. More casino rather than sportsbook (although they do have one).

Correct. I seem to recall them sponsoring Big Brother on ITV. We’re well and truly in the big leagues.

Don't agree with it, but appreciate it's a symptom reflecting wider issues and the club should be maximising revenue too. Plus maybe I'm a hypocrite as I enjoy the occasional flutter, but online casinos seem to be the worst in terms of targeting problem gamblers. The target audience is not people enjoying a night out or putting some money on a sport they enjoy; it's people on their smartphones sat at home which will include plenty of problem gamblers.

Last year's Premier League and EFL gambling sponsors were:

  3. Brentford - Holywoodbets
  4. Burnley - 96
  5. Crystal Palace - NET88
  6. Everton - Stake
  7. Fulham - SBOBet
  8. Nottm Forest - Bally's
  9. Sunderland - W88
  10. West Ham - Boylesports
  11. Wolves - DEBET
  12. Leicester - BC.GAME
  13. Middlesbrough - Unibet
  14. QPR - CopyBet
  15. Sheff Utd - Midnite
  16. Sheff Wed - Mr. Vegas
  17. Stoke - bet365
  18. Watford - MrQ

The problem is we're operating in a system which requires revenue maximisation. Clubs are basically incentivised to have sponsors who'll pay the highest fees, even at the cost of not having any moral stance.

Is that all? A few years ago you'd have had a shorter list of teams NOT sponsored by gambling companies.

That's just the primary, front of shirt sponsors. There may be others now things like sleeve sponsorship is allowed.

I imagine some clubs stopped having a gambling company sponsoring them early as a result of the incoming ban on them. Even Championship clubs expecting to be towards the promotion picture aren't going to go for anything more than a one-year contract due to the potential issues they could face.

Notice how most of these are either Premier League or upper Championship clubs. Most just want the exposure to a wide audience, so only really want to be involved with Premier League clubs who'll have games broadcast everywhere.

Tbf, a deal with the French tourist board may have some perks to it.
