Using the absolute loosest of terms of former Reading player (were they in our academy for ten minutes?), I think our list ended up being (with their appearances and goals for us):

Code: Select all

Nat	Player Pld	Gls
ARG	Emiliano Martínez 18 0
AUT	Kevin Danso 0 0
CUW Leandro Bacuna 66 5
COD	Aaron Tshibola 17 0
ENG	Eberechi Eze 0 0
FRA	Michael Olise 73 7
GHA	Abdul Rahman Baba 49 0
IRN	Saeid Ezatolahi 4 0
NED	Nathan Aké 5 0
NZL	Tyler Bindon 75 4
NOR	Ørjan Nyland 10 0
SCO	Dominic Hyam 0 0

I’ve got…
Martinez
Ake
Hyam
Bindon
No left back
Estohazi
Olise
Tshibola
Bacuna
Er
Er
Sub Nyland
COACH Fae
Graham Potter (on loan, now Sweden manager)
Eberechi Eze (Reading academy)
Steve Clarke
Emerse Fae (now managing Ivory Coast)
Kevin Danso (also once of the Academy)
Interesting* three managers were ex-Reading.

Just had my mind blown that the year we set records in 2006, club legend Ady Williams had a full season at centre back at Coventry, who finished just outside the playoffs.

Does anyone have any particularly memories of club legends playing against us, that I may have forgot?

Not a legend by any means, but I'm fairly certain Dean Morgan ripped us apart for Luton in one of the two games we lost that season.

I recall that game, he scored a very good goal.

Talking of the World Cup though, Tyler Bindon and his mum Jenny are the first ever mother and son duo to play at a World Cup. Great little fact that is.

I remember seeing "Club legend" Lucas Joao came off the bench to score a late goal against us on the Saturday then signed for us the following week

This is the Ady Williams playing against us memory I have.

1997 EFL cup, 4-2 Reading - Goals from Phil Parkinson, Mike Meaker and Keith McPherson and a memorable own goal from ex-Reading defender Ady Williams.... Once a Royal, always a Royal (again, also not Prince Andrew)

Les Chappell scored the only goal in our only home defeat of the 1975-76 season for Donny Rovers.

I remember going to Millmoor and Martin Butler was in the Rotherham squad, was getting a lot of love when he came and warmed up near us.

However he then dived for a pen after coming on and all love was lost.

Goater scored for us in a 5-1 loss.

Another heavy away defeat earned after taking the lead I believe, not as bad as when going 1-0 up at Chesterfield and then losing 7-1 but still very irritating.

James Lambert scored for Oxford in their first visit to the Mad Stad. It may have been the winner but I'm not 100% sure.

There are 2 things I remember most about the aforementioned trip to Millmoor, both occuring in the clubhouse before the match; the bewildering amount of Loyalist paramilitary merch openly on sale and the the amount of racist abuse hurled at the TV because it was showing a live game from the AFCON.

Don’t think James Lambert ever played against Reading. He certainly didn’t play in Oxford’s 2-1 win at the Mad Stad in Nov 1999 (those goals were scored by Rob Folland and Matt Murphy). Lambert was only with Oxford for the 1999-2000 season and he did not play in the return fixture at the Manor in March 2000 either (Reading won 3-1). After Oxford he went to Slough and then finished with a handful of games at Basingstoke in 2003.

I could have sworn Lambert played and scored in that match. It was the first game I ever took my nephew to.

I take that back, doing more digging the Oxford team data I have lists him as a C Lambert  he was subbed off on 61 minutes with Ox leading 1-0. He made 8(5) league appearances for them that season scoring twice (v Colchester and v Bury).

Yeah, his first name is actually Christopher.

Wasn't sure if my memory was failing me but I seemed to remember him giving it large to the Reading fans after one of the goals.

Did someone put in a big tackle and send him cartwheeling through the air in that match?

I stumbled across this earlier:

Perhaps the best entertainment of the first half for Reading fans was James Lambert. In his Oxford shirt. Getting towards the end of the first half he went flying over Barry Hunter. Moments later he had a little tantrum at the referee and picked up a yellow card for his troubles.
