FIFA floating the idea that they are looking to potentially approve each domestic league being able to have 1 top flight game played in another country, and each country also can host up to 5 games from other countries leagues

It's the beginning of the end - was always going to happen. Money will supersede absolutely everything in football as it already does in many other ways.

It;'s the wet dream of broadcasters and betting companies to be able to use timezones to have a whole weekend full of back-to-back matches, so this will undoubtedly happen at some stage in the future.

6am - 3pm kick-off in Sydney
8am - 3pm kick-off in Beijing
10am - 3.30 pm kick-of in Kolkata
12pm - 3pm kick-off in Dubai
2pm 4pm & 6pm - European matches
8pm - 3pm kick-off in Miami
10pm - 4pm kick-off in Chicago
Midnight - 4pm kick-off in LA

Not until it happens and then it will only die off if they don't make money out of it. Which they will.

It's a matter of time, it really is The super league thing was just one variation on the idea, which is basically to monetise the Premier League, to capitalise on the big 6 mainly, to sell tickets to the highest bidders, to turn it into an Americanised model, where basically tickets will be £250+ and regular fans will just be even less valued than they are now.

I like how the European Superleague idea, with 6 English clubs invited to join, was shot down in flames and the idea thrown in the bin......so UEFA just changed the Champions League to one big league table and allowed 6 English teams into it

In another bit of micromanaging stupidity, FIFA is proposing a rule that would require all clubs to field at least one homegrown under-20 or under-21 player on the pitch at all times during matches.

That he's held up as some sort of "character" only goes to illustrate how depressingly witless footballers generally are.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned but a raft of changes will come in on 1st June that will impact the WC first - mostly around VAR and time wasting.

To minimise time wasting at goal kicks/corners/throw ins - the ref will begin a countdown similar to when the keeper has the ball - if that lapses, possession will change hands - i.e. a goal kick will become a corner.

Subsitutions must be completed in 10 seconds. If delayed, then once the player has left the pitch, the sub may not come on for 1 minute (goalies are exempt).

In an effort to stop players feigning injury, if a player gets treatment on the field but no yellow/red card is given, they must leave the field for 1 minute.

VAR will now be able to review corners (but leagues can opt out - so far only Serie A of the big European leagues plans to do so) and weigh in to review 2nd yellow cards or mistaken identity.

Apologies if already discussed but some interesting changes there.

not brand new info, but from the start of 26/27 The Premier League are launching Premier League+, which is their direct-to-consumer offering in Singapore only, via streamer Starhub. All 380 games will be available.

very much seen as a test case for a potential much bigger international expansion later on

Very much the natural next step for them. Why let people like Sky sell their product and add-on their own markup and money from advertising when the technology is there for them to sell direct to consumers?

And in the grand old tradition of “keeper has the ball” countdowns it’ll be forgotten about

Well that’s fair, a player who actually does get injured in a non cardable challenge penalises his team as a result - but I suppose he could always go down clutching his head

VAR will now be able to review corners (but leagues can opt out - so far only Serie A of the big European leagues plans to do so) and weigh in to review 2nd yellow cards or mistaken identity.

About time! How many times a season do you see officials ballsing up corner/goal kick awards. Second yellows? Suppose it’s the first yellow that was a travesty?

Apologies if already discussed but some interesting changes there.

Some journalist:
The Championship has been talking about swapping PSR for SCR for months. Today’s the day. A recent indicative vote fell just short of 2/3 majority but clubs think it will pass on Fri. 85% of revs on 1st team squads, plus max £10m top-up in owner cash.

Based on the last Nations League standings, the sides would be split:

League 1 - Pot 1
  1. Portugal
  2. Spain
  3. France
  4. Germany
  5. Italy
  6. Netherlands
  7. Denmark
  8. Croatia
  9. Serbia
  10. Belgium
  11. England
  12. Norway
League 1 - Pot 2
  1. Wales
  2. Czech Rep
  3. Greece
  4. Turkey
  5. Scotland
  6. Hungary
  7. Poland
  8. Israel
  9. Switzerland
  10. Bosnia
  11. Austria
  12. Ukraine
League 1 - Pot 3
  1. Slovenia
  2. Georgia
  3. Ireland
  4. Romania
  5. Sweden
  6. Macedonia
  7. Northern Ireland
  8. Kosovo
  9. Iceland
  10. Albania
  11. Montenegro
  12. Kazakhstan
League 2 - Pot 1
  1. Finland
  2. Slovakia
  3. Bulgaria
  4. Armenia
  5. Belarus
  6. Faroe Islands
League 2 - Pot 2
  1. Cyprus
  2. Estonia
  3. Latvia
  4. Luxembourg
  5. Moldova
  6. San Marino
League 2 - Pot 3
  1. Azerbaijan
  2. Lithuania
  3. Malta
  4. Gibraltar
  5. Liechtenstein
  6. Andorra
Spain and Portugal will qualify automatically as co-hosts, so in practice we'd end up with something like:
  1. League 1 - Pot 1: France; Germany; Italy; Netherlands; Denmark; Croatia; Serbia; Belgium; England; Norway; Wales; Czech Rep
  2. League 1 - Pot 2: Greece; Turkey; Scotland; Hungary; Poland; Israel; Switzerland; Bosnia; Austria; Ukraine; Slovenia; Georgia
  3. League 1 - Pot 3: Ireland; Romania; Sweden; Macedonia; Northern Ireland; Kosovo; Iceland; Albania; Montenegro; Kazakhstan; Finland; Slovakia
  4. League 2 - Pot 1: Bulgaria; Armenia; Belarus; Faroe Islands; Cyprus; Estonia
  5. League 2 - Pot 2: Latvia; Luxembourg; Moldova; San Marino; Azerbaijan
  6. League 2 - Pot 3: Lithuania; Malta; Gibraltar; Liechtenstein; Andorra

Is there a path for a team from League 2 to qualify, or are they competing to get into League 1 which would then allow them to qualify?
