Expect he sees Hutch and poss McIntyre as midfielders. They’re both also always injuredSnowflake Royal wrote:It's a no from me. If we want experience, there's Hutch. The Toms are both at or approaching 100 games.
We need pace in CBs, so I'm not on board with someone in their 30s.
Holmes, McIntyre, Mbengue, Dorsett, Abbey, Stickland, Clarke is plenty imo. At least to start the season with.
The odds aren't in your favour though.Hound wrote:Expect he sees Hutch and poss McIntyre as midfielders. They’re both also always injuredSnowflake Royal wrote:It's a no from me. If we want experience, there's Hutch. The Toms are both at or approaching 100 games.

Been a few rumours of us looking at experienced CBs. Get your basic point but in Dean’s case - big nasty experienced CB - I’m all for it
Being over 30 doesn’t mean you’re slow either
Not sure they'd get any better than us quite honestly, can't see any higher level clubs coming in for 2 players who have been part of the worst championship defence for the last 2 seasons.SCIAG wrote:Could still see McIntyre and/or Holmes leaving.
Surprised a player of his experience and calibre is on trial, seems a bit of an insult, still if he agrees to it then it should help minimise a mistake being made by either party if he does sign permanently.paultheroyal wrote:This would be an excellent signing. Player and Supporters Player of the year only 2 years ago. Solid defender, whole host of appearances under his belt, only 31 - we should be all over this - get this done!!
He hasn't played a huge amount over the past couple of seasons - don't know if that's due to injuries or not being selected (if it's the former it may simply be the club wanting to check his fitness). Perhaps there's a concern he's declining rapidly and the club aren't sure whether there would be better options or not.Sutekh wrote:Surprised a player of his experience and calibre is on trial, seems a bit of an insult, still if he agrees to it then it should help minimise a mistake being made by either party if he does sign permanently.paultheroyal wrote:This would be an excellent signing. He’ll be just 32. Still 3-4 good years left potentiallySnowflake Royal wrote:The odds aren't in your favour though.Hound wrote:Expect he sees Hutch and poss McIntyre as midfielders. I hope he doesn’t see McIntyre as a midfielder, he really isn't. Hutch fine, but you can't rely on him as much as McIntyre, which says a lot.
It's just the same old clogger in their twilight blocking progress we've seen for years imo.
