Only surprise is they've become the earliest a side has been officially relegated in League football. Even Luton managed to officially remain in the league longer when they had thirty points deducted (although that may have been in League Two, with only two relegation spots).

Luton "only" got relegated by 15pts in the end - their on-pitch total was good enough for 15th.

Weds are in a totally different situation where their squad is not up to the level they are playing at due to those who were leaving - even without the deduction, they would only be on 11 points - so still 23 points adrift.

They are currently 6 games away from being the first team in English League football history to go an entire season without a home win.

Lincoln effectively promoted, just need 4 more points to be sure.

GOOD FRIDAY games for the clubs in 2nd, 3rd & 4th:

Bradford (65 points) v Northampton
Lincoln (84 points) v Wimbledon
Plymouth v Bolton (66 points)

If Lincoln beat Wimbledon they’ll be confirmed as promoted so long as Bolton drop points at Plymouth

Reading could be welcoming them after their promotion is confirmed or Lincoln might only need a point at the SCL - really don’t know which would be for the better but either way Reading will certainly need to be able to raise their game to have a chance of getting something.

For the record, Cardiff only play 1 game over Easter (Peterborough away on the Monday) as their fixture at home to Port Vale was moved due to Vale’s continuing FA Cup experience. It’s therefore likely Cardiff could well be in the same promotion position when they visit Reading on 18 April.

Coventry need 1 point from their final 4 games to clinch promotion. Ipswich look likely to take the other spot and as they have 2 games in hand could still snatch the title.

In League 1

Northampton 15 points off safety with 15 to play for will be relegated with a defeat at Luton on Weds. They could actually be relegated before bottom side Vale.

In League 2

Bromley are 1 win away from promotion whilst Harrogate and Barrow need a small miracle to escape the drop into non-league.

In the National league

York P 44 Pts 104
Rochdale P44 Pts 102

April 25th - Rochdale v York

York are in the strange position where 2 draws will guarantee them promotion but a win next week (with a Rochdale win as well) followed by a defeat to Rochdale will mean missing out.

one of my favourite little quirks of football that. when the team 2nd from bottom has an R next to their name, but the team at the bottom are not yet relegated

Also in L1 this week Cardiff will be promoted if they win at Huddersfield on Tuesday and Stockport fail to win at Wimbledon on Wednesday.
Rotherham will be relegated if they do not win at Orient on Saturday.

Defeats on Thursday and then Sunday will also spell the end for Port Vale.

Can you imagine if they don't win and instead they get promoted when they play at Reading? That would be two teams in a row, both of whom were promoted at our ground

Leeds have a huge say in the premier league relegation battle not only are they in it (less so after tonight) but they have left to play

Spurs and West Ham

They also have Burnley and Wolves so should be fine

You must be very happy this morning then.

22nd placed Rotherham relegated whilst 23rd placed Vale and 24th placed Northampton, can theoretically stay up,

Northampton joined them tonight; Port Vale probably will tomorrow.
