Football Clichés

by Winston Biscuit » 10 Apr 2026 14:50

an attempt at a thread for capturing the overused and not well thought through expressions that we hear regularly used in football talk.

I will start things off with all young players being 'hungry'. everyone under, saaayyyyy 21, is just described as standard as being 'hungry'

And why football managers never discuss the game over a bottle of white wine.

And why the only percentage a player ever gives "it" is 110.

Always a "tough place to go"

And always wondered why when players are tired they're "leggy"

young players just need game time, older players don't want to be sitting on the bench at that stage of their career, and players in between those 2 really just want to be playing week in week out.
