So basically the top 33% of the Championship will either be, or have a chance to be promoted,

You could easily see a side sit around 13th or 14th all season, hit a winning run in the last 8 or so games to climb to 8th and use momentum to get to the PL.

It's clearly just a bigger safety net for relegated PL sides.

On average 66-69pts will be enough to make the play-offs.

So a 2 legged semi final is just delayed until you know who you`re playing until after the eliminators, just give the highest teams a 1 off game ffs.

If they do drop we’ll be able to play “guess which Spurs game won’t be live on Sky” in the summer :?

Is it correct that VAR will be used for every game in the FA Cup from the 5th round onwards even if the club hosting a tie is not in the Premier League?

If this is so, how long before every game in the Football League gets to suffer with it?

Can't believe they'd see it as financially worthwhile. A minimum of eight cameras, high-bandwidth comms links and at least 2 VAR operators at Stockley Park - so that's all the technology cost plus ten people employed per match. Assuming you can fit those cameras in the right positions in some of the tiny grounds with old-fashioned stands out there.

I've seen a figure of £95k per match as a one-off in the FA Cup (obviously cheaper if you do it again and again) but that seems a lot of money to look for offsides as Accrington host Barrow in front of 2,500 people.

was watching a podcast with tim sherwood and jimmy bullard and a questions was posed to sherwood - what rule would he bring in to improve football. And he came out with a very interesting idea, he says he hates 0-0's so he said both teams should get zero points, for a nil-nil. A score draw is fine, both teams get a point. But if its nil nil neither team get a point. It might make teams go for it more in a boring nil niller. I like it! thinks its a great idea.

I agree with you in principle but the chances of a 5th round tie between Accrington and Barrow are fairly slim. :wink:

if losing gets you zero points and drawing 0-0 also gets you zero points then the last few minutes of a 0-0 would be fun to watch :lol:

Quite daft, battling lower league side getting a deserved 0-0 at promotion chasing club should not be penalised. About time the defensive side of the game was encouraged not forever being done down as negative or boring. I’d penalise the boring possession for possession sake merchants esp. if they get 60/70% possession and still can’t score/win.

Compromise:
Lose = -1
0-0 = 0
Score draw = 1
Win = 2

:lol:

whichever side does the most sideways passes gets docked a point. Your passes coach can stand at the side with a digital board showing how many each team have done. with 5 minutes to go one of the teams will stop passing sideways and start hoofing straight forward instead, while also closing down oppo players but leaving one of their teammates to the side of them completely free for a pass

you could actually just scrap points for a draw or win completely and just award points to each team for the number of goals they score

Cue teams taking turns to allow each other to score for the first 80 minutes, then actually playing competitively for the last ten.

Alright, scrap that and just bring in points for the one that scores the most, or the same points if the goals are the same

Put someone in a hospitality box with a rifle ordered to start shooting anyone engaged with pitchside 'shenanigans'.

Problem solves with minimal casaulties.

Of course if they’d left it all alone in the first place we wouldn’t have to have these damn silly arguments about when which bits of a player become offside.
