FANS' POST MATCH OPINION

Anyway, some will call it a 'typical championship slog', I call it a quality away performance, absorbing pretty much everything Burnley could throw at us whilst always looking dangerous on the break. Should have been two up by the time we got the goal, and in the second half we pretty much played them off the park.

The ball spent most of the time in the air, and the first half was pretty forgettable apart from the (presumably) offside goal. Second half when McAnuff went off and Hunt came on, slightly better. Tabb's injury livened up the crowd somewhat, as the more parochial locals showed their true colours, but the rest of their fans gave a creditable round of applause. Manset's introduction was the catalyst - within 20 seconds he'd had a shot, then shortly after he had a Ricky Villa-esque mazy dribbling run through the Burnley defence, which they only hacked clear at the last second. Only one likely winner from that point, and another good run down the left saw the goal and amazing scenes.

QUOTES FROM THE PRESS

An injury-time strike by substitute Jem Karacan gave Reading victory over Burnley. Karacan came on after Jay Tabb was struck in the face by a clearance from Burnley goalkeeper Lee Grant. Tabb left the pitch in a neck brace after a lengthy delay but is now recovering well in hospital. Reading had a penalty appeal refused before Karacan hit home from fellow substitute Mathieu Manset's cross in the eighth minute of added time. Both sides had chances to go ahead in the first half, with Charlie Austin just failing to get a crucial touch on Jay Rodriguez's shot before Reading striker Adam Le Fondre forced the Burnley goalkeeper into a good save. At times Burnley did find their rhythm and the home side were hopeful when Rodriguez's snapshot took a deflection off Kaspars Gorkss - just flying past the outstretched boot of Austin. Referee Phil Gibbs incensed the visitors when he deemed Andre Amougou's challenge on Le Fondre in the box to be fair. But the breakthrough came deep into added time and Reading will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five matches against Derby on Tuesday.
