Reading's winning league run ended with a 1-1 draw against bottom of the table Barnsley this evening. Reading traveled to Barnsley on the back of three straight victories, which had carried the Royals up to sixth in the table, but they were unable to build on that run this evening. Barnsley also ended a run - but this was an improvement for them after four consecutive league defeats. The home side had much the better of the game but needed a 79th minute equaliser to share the points after Robson-Kanu put Reading ahead six minutes after the break.

Barnsley should have done better with the number of chances they created and Reading might feel happy to leave with a point that extends an unbeaten run to six games. The point was enough to take Reading up to fifth place in the Championship. Billy Sharp made his debut, coming on for Adam Le Fondre who had started up front alongside Pogrebnyak. However his 87th minute appearance was too late to have any impact as Reading's strikers again drew a blank.
