Alex Pearce made his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland last night as they defeated Oman 4-1 in a friendly at Craven Cottage. It was an excellent night for both Ireland and Pearce, who played the entire second half and also finished the scoring for Ireland - heading home a cross with five minutes left to play. Former Reading players Shane Long and Kevin Doyle were also on the scoresheet. Ireland were in control throughout the game, and although they did conceed a goal during the second half it was a minor blemish on an impressive night for the Reading centre back. This could well mark the start of a long international career for the player who has hit top form for Reading over the last couple of years.

Ireland Team: Forde (Randolph 46), Kelly, St. Ledger, Meyler, Wilson (Pearce 46), Coleman, Keogh, McCarthy (Cox 65), Brady(McGeady 70), Doyle (McClean 61), Long (O'Brien 73).
Subs Not Used: Ward, Henderson.
Ireland Goals: Long 7, Brady 23, Doyle 36, Pearce 85.
